Meet your new everyday jewellery

This season is all about having fun with your accessories

The art of everyday jewellery is a difficult one to conquer; too flashy and people will wonder why you’re wearing a collarbone-skimming chandelier earring to brunch at 11am, on a Saturday, and too subtle and it’s most likely to get lost in your outfit.

That’s why this spring is all about getting some enjoyment out of your jewellery. We’re looking to the demi-fine category - neither costume nor fine, yet both comfortable and bright enough to splash some personality into your daily apparel, the perfect accent to the new season.

Last seasons offerings showed us minimal pieces with lashings of personality; something we’re looking to carry forward into next season. Keep an eye out for those pieces that are relatively small in size but upon closer inspection, will inject some colour and fun to your look.

Our first focus was Lola Rose, a brand that’s aim is to ‘create fabulous, timeless pieces, for every moment in our lives’ - their work with semi-precious stones, worked into delicate arrow and lighting bolt combinations to name a few, are the perfect go-to for everyday jewellery. The mixed tourmaline stones are just enough to add subtle colour to your outfits and the varied colour ways are perfect to pair with a crisp white shirt.

If you’re looking for a Dash of colour, their small emerald hoops will add a bright pop without looking overpowering. Alternatively the luminous colour of the opal earrings from Wwake are subtle enough for those who aren’t exactly accustomed to colour - pair it with similar pieces for effortless continuity to your look.

We spoke to David Allen, creative director at 77 Diamonds who said 'The addition of any gemstone in jewellery brings a warmth and a luxury to any look. An emerald will exude decadence and incite feelings of yesteryear, while a ruby gives a sense of regality. Choose carefully a stone that represents you and you'll find it can have an unforgettable impact'.

The key to finding your own style of daytime jewels is to look for pieces that are both simple and colourful enough, that they’ll work with your whole wardrobe yet add that much needed whimsy. Shop our top picks below - remember that it’s about jewellery that’s precious enough that it feels special but not too precious that it doesn’t deserve to be worn and enjoyed.
